Infood Barista does it again!
Brewing and presenting the perfect cup of cappuccino might not be an Olympic event, but for the youngest barista at Infood it might as well have been. He will not exchange his two trophies for anything in the world, except for the international barista crown, that is.
Trained by the best, his colleagues, Charles Ngwaroi competed at the regional South African Barista Championship in Port Elizabeth last week – and came back home with no less than two awards.
This achievement came as the biggest, and definitely the most welcome surprise for Charles. “My nerves got the better of me during the first round on Thursday and I did not dream for one moment that I would make it through to the next round.” said Charles
“Hearing my name being called out gave me the confidence I needed, and from there on I gave it my all – no more nerves or thinking that I am not as good as the best.” This attitude made Charles the third barista to bring back home an award to Infood. Not only did he scoop up the award for the Best Cappuccino, but was also crowned, overall winner.
“I am so proud of Charles, he truly deserves these awards, especially keeping in mind that he has never done something like this before.” said the owner of Infood, Jayne.
On September 23, Charles will compete in the National SA Barista Championship in Johannesburg. The format of the competition will be the same as that in the
